Razed Realms:The traitors return

Post by mrman011235 on Fri Apr 08, 2016 3:55 am

First topic message reminder :

In this world there are humans who worship dead gods, you know this because you have had a vision of each throne of each god, they were all empty the thrones were, the eyes were black pits signaling lifessness as you gazed
In horror as each god fell from a mighty swing of the blade....no, THAT blade you don't know much about it but from nursery rhymes, why? Because everyone knew the old story of the mortal smithy arjug the man who was cursed by the gods themselves but only you and a handful of others new the full story and you saw in fear through the vision as arjug killed the gods one by one you still have k nightmares about it especially at the end of the vision he looks in your direction brandishing that accursed blade before saying "what a minor inconvenience" as he swings his blade at you, you see one final image, the tavern the same one you currently stand at the tavern is filled with drunken patrons mercs or some such it is then that you see him the guy all the way in the back he's not drinking or talking just watching......just watching now....what do you do?

As the mage began to walk through the halls that made up an unusually large amount of the building he noticed his comrade was on edge "this is a place of magic this guild was built on top of the largest leyline network cluster in the region here even a newly apprenticed mage with little to no knowledge on the subject would be capable of blasting you or I to kingdom come with the weakest of spells, however what your feeling isn't the power of any mage or beast but of the council, if this place was given free access without any safeguards the entire city would be under siege within seconds.....the council prevents that, they designed this building elaborately it's ugly and brutish design is a necessity look at the very walls and you will see what I'm talking about" Marin then stops to turn towards a wall although it looks like a simple wall with rough stone bricks at a closer inspection one can see extremely powerful runes engraved not into the wall but into the very essence of the bricks themselves a very old magic, inactive but clearly ready to set off at a moments notice
"If anyone try to cast any spell that's not healing in nature or has been processed by several of the higher up guild members then the runes will set off, its not a deadly spell, but it will garauntee that whatever you just tried to do won't happen. PERIOD."

Sinopa stepped inside, gritting her teeth at the oddity of the larger rooms. She didn't like it. Not at all. She half-listened into the mage's explanation, finding no particular interest in it, as all she knew, her magic was different from mages. She didn't conjure. She didn't cast spells. She didn't any of those tomes, scriptures and books. Her magic was in shadow and fire, and those things bent to her willingly without words are letters. It was a skill passed down from her forefathers. It had been some time since she remembered why it was such. To her, it just was.

"Mm." Her mouth form the tone of half-hearted affirmation to his words. Interesting, sort of. However when he mentioned the runes, and when they caught her attention. She stopped in her steps, her eyes narrowed, not really looking at anything as she contemplated whether it was safe for her here. Did any of these mages have prejudice? Any wrongful will? She relied on her agility and her magic. Could it be possible that she could be overpowered here? Did she trust this man enough to be here? She shuffled, uncomfortable at these thoughts as she folded her hood back onto her head and hid her ears. Completely human. She looked completely human. She still hesitated to take another step, tilting her head slightly, as if in thought.

"Any way the spell used in these walls aren't something you can over power or anything due to its nature, it wind the very leyline in your body into a particular pattern as a result your spells will cease to function and fall apart entirely, I've seen mastermages capable of conjuring entire armies and even necromancers who tried to rise an entire mausoleum in this building just for thier spells to fall apart as though nothing where to happen of course the council however have special markings hidden on thier body ones that when activated will make them immune to the spell in this building, however some people think that due to some of the patrons remarks on certain races, mainly the more unusual one like you and me, that the council has some sort of discriminatory stance to the lesser races, but that simply is not true although the council doesn't step in often they do whenever the potential for real harm to come out of it after all the council is much more diverse than you would think, merfolk, trimeam, caitsi, elvish, human, dwarvin, salame, samsaren, kitsune, they even have several ghost and scions, and everyone knows how reclusive and unusual the scions are" as soon Maren finally got done talking a young mage steps into the hall before shouting "HA, I HAVE STOLEN A TOME OF DESTRUCTION FROM THE COUNCIL NOW FELL MY WRATH!!"
Then as the young mage starts reading the words the air becomes thick with magical energy the man puts one hand in the air as he creates a magical fireballs so immense and powerful it could wipe out the city but as he pulls his arm back to throw it almost as though somethi ng swallowed it the giant ball of flames disappeared the man with a look of shock on his face begins to contort in pain as veins on his body begin to glow a bright green color his leyline now visible begin to twist in impossible directions the man finally recovering tries the spell once again he shows confusion as now he can't even attempt to use his magic anymore then before he could.move chains erupt from the walls pulling him into the floor, the floor swallowing him leaving nothing of the incident but a ripple in the walls where the chains came from and a ripple in the floor where the man got pulled into
"Don't worry he's not going to be tortured or anything......he will however be most definitely executed for his attempted mass murder of the city"

All t took was that incident. One instant she had been listening to this man gloating about a power not his own, and the next some idiot began talking about some sort of spell. He began to read, but before she could react, the very walls reacted first. As she watched the young man writhe and be dragged to gods knows where, her instincts of imposing danger skyrocketed, and now, with her fluffed up tail looked more like a squirrel person than a fox. She stepped backwards and feeling her back towards the wall, as she began to look around wildly, a low growl emitting from her throat. She just didn't trust this place. "Need to go." Was all she simply said as she continued to snarl.

"Don't worry as long as you don't try any thing stupid like that guy the walls will leave you alone think of it as the town guard except it actually does its job, now then off to feast at the mess ha-"
Maren got cut off as a blue orb of magical energy appears in front of him, the orb begins speaking "Maren the council wishes to speak with you about the rumors of an arch drake incident" the orb then disappears, Maren continues speaking but with a ping of annoyance in his voice "well I was hoping to grab a bite to eat, the council will probably be wanting to know the story from everyone involved however, I don't know where Luna is, but Sinopa if you would like to see the council of mages follow me, otherwise try not to cast any spells or use any magic here.....it's not healthy"

Luna was getting the horses as she had said. She didn't know where the two had gone off to together.

The fox spirit looked agitated at his 'words of assurance,' snorting slightly. Some assurance! Sounded more like a threat, to her! She jumped as the orb faded into existence, looking ready to swipe at it before she stopped herself. Sinopa seemed to think for a moment on Maren's offer after she had listened to the exchange, before stepping close to Maren. Though she didn't exactly trust the man, a man known by sight was better than wandering alone down strange halls. She nodded silently in quiet affirmation that she would follow him.

As they walked down the halls that zig zagged through the building making it seem much larger than it actually was they finally stopped at a large wooden door of a deep brown color probably made from an oak tree nothing about the door however made it stand out it seemed as though someone could walk by it daily and never notice it is even there
Maren stares at it for a minute before turning to Sinopa
"They aren't that threatening....assuming you don't do anything brash, however a few people have ventured into this room to kill the council mainly since they have such influence over the city, that being said every time a person or a group of individuals enter this room with.....hostile intentions there's never any sound of fighting just a soft pop sound and silence I remember one time I followed a man with black firebombs who planned to cripple one of the council member he went into the door I heard that same pop and several members left as though nothing happened and when I went in thier not even a full minute after no one was thier no council no man nothing after that day the rest of the council appeared as though th e were always there I'm not telling you this to threaten you I'm telling you this to warn you. Do.Not.Act.Hostile to the council if you act like a person with no such intent they will be VERY nice, if you refrain from such aggressive movements"
Maren waited for her response make sure she understood that although the council isn't mean heartless killers, they will not tolerate such acts

The maze of a hallway irked Sinopa. Did they really have to make everything so intricate and confusing? Despite the large space, the fox felt a bit claustrophobic at the twists and turns, beginning to flinch at the smallest of environmental changes or stare at a passing stranger suspicious, her hands clenched tight on her weapons underneath her cloak. When they came upon a door, she wasn't all that impressed. She figured it was a way to dissuade intruders from thinking the place was of importance, but she was still disappointed in its lack of design. At least the wood looked formal.

Her ears flicked under her hood after he finally spoke after a long minute of silence, which she found too dramatic and even snorted at when he finally did open his trap. Still, she listened to his words, nodding half-heartedly at every pause he gave in affirmation she understood. She would really expect nothing less of high officials, though she never trusted them to begin with. He was asking her to go in their and prepare to endure whatever jab or possible threat with open arms. She didn't like it. She considered just waiting outside.

Alone in the hall, where practically anybody can come by. That thought was terrible, too. She weighed her options. To show less aggression  would mean to show less defensiveness, wouldn't it? Finally she grumbled in annoyance, "Alright, I will behave."

"Great" Maren said with mild enthusiasm although he tried to hide it behind his usual half smile, he was worried he didn't know why the council wanted to speak with him but they were dangerous people and Maren didn't like dangerous people, with a look of mild concern he opened the door and stepped into the strangely normal sized room the walls made of the same stone that makes up the rest of the building the only thing that stood out was the long wooden bench nothing elaborate a simply mundane bench with 9 members of the council this room looked different since the last time Maren was here it changed, as he gazed at the bench he looked at each member a human, an elf, a dwarf, a merfolk, two ghosts, a salame(basically a miniature dragon), a scion(a being made of sentient energy it doesn't have a solid form), and finally a changeling, the changelings faces begins to contort to various warped versions of Maren and Sinopa's faces before turning into a disfigured version of the arch drake they fought the previous day before finally reverting to its normal form a glassy humanoid with impossibly skinny arms and legs

As Maren and Sinopa were beginning thier meet with the council Luna had felt a minor headache before seeing something rather unique it was though she was in a dream although still awake as before her played out an illusion an unusual one but a dire one as she gazed on she saw what is to be assumed is Metoia the goddess of death she has a bandage over her eyes and is missing her left arm then arjug walks into the picture raising his sword but then the illusion vanishes although uncertain of her fate for some reason it doesn't feel as though she is in any danger it seems more as though was Luna had seen was a glimpse into the future she knew she had to make haste but first she would have to find Maren and Sinopa as she wondered where to start she looked at her new magic satchel and noticed it had the mages guild seal stitched into it

The fox noted the less than enthusiastic tone in his voice, which only put her more on guard, since she had expected the man to feel honored in some way. His mask didn't fool her, and her eyes narrowed at it. She walked in only a step behind Maren but adjacent to him as well. She didn't glance up at the members as the mage did, but studied them with her peripheral view, hidden mostly behind her hood. She didn't appear all that impressed or daunted, though seemed curious to the more exotic species. However when the changling tested their faces, she instinctively stiffened next to Merith, as if insulted or angered. She refused to open her mouth, however, remembering Maren's words.

She stood their, waiting. Silent.

As Maren stood thier he stuttered although he knew it foolish to waste the time of the council he couldn't help it Maren had been through some dangerous encounter but these people where the first to genuinely make Maren feel fear as Maren began to speak he stuttered
"We a-a-are here about the arch dr-dr-drake incident"
The elf who had a infuriated look on his face moved from the seat he was right in Maren's face but did it with such speed he looked as though he never moved an inch, the elf spoke "DO NOT waste our time speak NOW!!!"  the elf the disappeared before reappearing right on the bench with the rest of the council Maren began speaking again "we are here about the arch drake incident we were told to come here by the guild com system"
The two ghost started moving, gliding through the air one of them floats around Sinopa as though watching her the other approaches Maren and says "you do realize that several hundred thousand gold are currently coming out of our pockets due to the damage caused by the archdrake and your subsequent fight with it, in addition one of our familiar had heard that the arch drake said something about a man named arjug and about how he's hunting you two or some sort is that true" as he said this he floated through Maren at the same time the other ghost floated through Sinopa mere got the chills t he moment the ghost went through him

Sinopa would have laughed at Maren's fear if she hadn't been trying to keep herself calm from all the jumping around, remembering the mage's warning warning as she kept herself from leaping at the incoming strangers with her weaponry. She pretended as if she didn't notice the supernatural figures as they approached, doing anything in her power to not lash out at them. Her knuckles were white as they grasped the hilts of the kusarigama, her entire body twitching. She kept her body mostly composed as the exchange between human and ghost happened, but the last straw came when one of the ghosts decided to pass through her, and suddenly she snarled, leaping back towards the door with her weapons defensively out and away from the table. Her stomach dropped when she realized what she did and she waited for whatever popping Maren had spoken of before she entered.

Maren turned around in fear as he looked at her, his eyes showed fear as he knew death would soon ensue as he looked at her he turned around and heard one of the members of the council start to talk it was the salame "we do not allow weapons of any kind to enter.THIS.ROOM." as he finished that sentence Maren heard it the soft pop the council had disappeared into thin air.
Maren began to worry would they be executed by some conjured demon, tortured by some arcane horror made of thier own fears he stood thier ever on guard ready for whatever may come, or at least he hoped after several tense moments heard the same salame speak again although he could not see her she said "you may leave now" was that it Maren began to wonder Maren then asked "your not going to kill us or conjure some being to torture us?" As soon as he finished that sentence the salame then replied "of course not such things are meaningless" Maren was worried but decided not to argue as he started to head for the door

Luna sighes, having hoped to not have to deal with the guild. With the horses secured, she turned and headed for the guild building to go in there and find the others.

The fox's snarls were reduced to low growls of warning as the other occupants of the room vanished, however she immediately knew they were still present when one spoke up again, and her vulpine eyes darted around wildly as her nose was scrunched up in another snarl reborn. She knew she had messed up badly but tried to reassure herself that the ghost had set it off. When they were told they could leave, she didn't move quite yet as she turned towards Maren defensively and untrusting once again, still unsure. In the seas of her anger and aggression, a spark of fear and regret floated among it all.

Maren turned around to see Sinopa stare at him as though he were an enemy "we don't have time for this, we have to leave the city and get to Metoia's temple" he said with confidence as he regained his composure, Maren reaches for the door and opened it, Maren stood thier shocked as he slowly walked out of the room into a vast empty space he looked around in the distance was a ball of light creating impossible amounts of light but it looked as though it were thousands if not tens of thousands of miles away Maren stood on a small rock floating on air he turned around to see the door he stepped through with Sinopa still standing there but thier was no wall or anything just the door with the room on the other side Maren turned back to the wierd light and looked off the ledge of the rock he was standing on thier was no ground beneath the floating rock it was just clouds and empty air then the salames voice boomed accross the sky it sounded different as though she were every were at once "well like we said you can leave the room if you want, but you can never leave the labyrinthium this is is your life now, if you wish to leave the only way out is death, most people die from starvation, dehydration or as is most common.....suicide, you will live here and you will die but don't think that death will come quickly here, time here works different days can pass on Etris and years will pass here, also time will move slower here than what your used to, as a result where on Etris it'll take you only a couple of weeks to starve to death, here you will starve for roughly 20 years before you die also incase you plan any shinanigans, we have 12 of our members constantly watching the labyrinth and you, this is you tomb accept and we MIGHT consider ending to your life here and now"
Maren didn't move for several moments or rather he couldnt, as he was in shock Maren fell to the ground not in pain, but in sadness he gazed into the light that seemed to be taunting him with false hope he laI'd thier on his knees at last he said was he had on his mind this whole time he turned to Sinopa no longer depressed, no more anger or fear just acceptance of the situation Maren said "what have you done" his voice empty of all conviction, no anger, it didn't even sound like an accusation, at best it sounded like a whimsical question as though he were asking her what she ate for breakfast, his gaze held fast

Meanwhile as Luna was making her way to the guild she got a wierd feeling, call it women's intiution, a hunch or just plain craziness but she got this wierd feeling that something bad was going on with Maren and Sinopa, a strange but powerful feeling that didn't really have any solid evidence to make her feel that way but something was definitely off.

"This is what I get for trusting mages. Again." Sinopa growled, clearly angered herself as she watched Maren open the door to the strange surreal place. In a fit of frustration she let out a caterwaul filled with her emotion as she randomly struck at nothing in the air. "This is nothing but torture in a way too ridiculous to comprehend. This makes me believe that your precious Mage council are as children, getting away with everything because of their power. It makes me wonder who is really our friend in this world. It is true, I have made a grave error by coming here. It is my nature to be defensive. Perhaps if I had not come here at all you would not have suffered such a fate." Suddenly, she turned to the emptiness of the room, her face calm. "Mages! I ask you this. Release this man, for it is I who made the error. He had warned me of your laws within this room, and in my selfishness I have ignored them. It would be wrong of you to keep him here when he has done nothing and I have done everything. I take full responsibility for what has happened. This man is innocent and does not deserve punishment."

She thought neither did she, but it wouldn't be the first time her temper had gotten her in trouble. The idea of wandering this place alone startled her, but she didn't have much of a choice now. Now, the only thing she could see to do was try to rescue Maren from this destiny among nothingness. She looked at the room. "What say you, archmages?"

Luna frowned and looked around the place as she entered. "Where are you two?" She muttered softly and started walking, she would glance into open rooms, but not enter them as she made her way down the maze of corridors, heading for the council chambers, though she expected to stop at a cafeteria or something long before she reached them.

As Sinopa began to plead with the council, Maren was still struck with reality
Why would the council do this, were i and Sinopa simply considered too violent to be left free trapped here in this impossible prison, no it seemed more like the council overreacted, I wonder....
As Maren got back still accepting his fate he at least wanted to know why he would spend the rest of his days here but as Sinopa finally finished her plea a different voice spoke it's tone and overall voice constantly changing to various high and low pitches, it was clearly the changeling speaking "we are sorry but our benefactor has promised some.....interesting rewards should we keep you locked up for at least the next few hours"
Maren was suddenly becoming less accepting of his fate and beginning to get somewhat irritated "you mean we will not be stuck here forever?" He was beginning to cling onto whatever hope he could
The changeling began to speak again "no we were simply asked to keep you 2 in here for AT LAST a couple of hours, but your in labyrinthium no way in, no way, out even if you found a way out of the labyrinth this isn't anywhere on Etris, this is a whole separate artificial plane, also we can send in members of the council to kill prisoners should they begin to annoy or tire us"
Maren listened in disbelief "the council really is like a group of children" Maren turned back towards the ledge and noticed the clouds shimmer ever so slightly Maren turned towards Sinopa stared at her for a long moment and began to speak "I'm sorry for the breakdown you had to see, but if you will do me one small favor and follow me?" As Maren finished he leaned over the ledge where the ground couldn't be seen a fell into the clouds off the ledge of the small floating rock. As he fell into the clouds the salame started talking again "do not listen to him you will simply fall to your death" its voice sounded hasty and mildly worried as though it truly didn't want Sinopa to follow the mage.

As Luna made her way through the guild she saw a scion not very suspicious on its own especially here in the mages guild but the small softly glowing crystal flower it held is what got her attention it, the flower appeared.to be a source of intense magical power as she could feel it from thier the scion hadn't noticed her yet maybe he knows where her new companions are, but she gets this wierd feeling as though he wouldn't tell her if she asked, at least not truthfully

Sinopa listened quietly to the traded words of the council and the lesser Mage. She sighed, wondering why she wasn't so surprised. "Of course, corruption is everywhere..." She stared back at Maren when he looked at her, feeling her cheeks actually flush slightly at the intensity of his gaze. An eyebrow raised itself up as he inquired her to follow him one more time.

She shouted for him to stop when she realized what he was doing, and she paled, stepping away from the ledge she had run to before he fell. How poetic, did he want them to die together? However her ears flicked at the rashness of the voice and suddenly smirked. "Smart man, that one..." She said, looking down where Maren had fell. Before she would do anything else, she tilted her head slightly wih a thoughtful gaze at nothing in particular. "Oh? A few seconds ago you didn't seem so concerned about my life, even going so far as to offering the mercy of ending it swiftly. And now, you are worried? How quaint. It seems the council is hiding something..." She took a step forward, but did not fall quite yet. She taunted them, in hopes of getting information squeezed out of them.

As she taunted them with her display the changeling started speaking again "you must not step off the ledge.....if you know what's good for you, do not follow the mage or suffering will be far worse than mere starvation" although the changelings voice constantly changed it somehow seemed more strange, its words were making a demand but it seemed more like it was a plea

"What is worse than starvation? The idea never occurred to you, did it?" Sinopa suddenly hissed, as if severely angered by this notion as she furiously whipped around to face the nothingness of a council. "You council with bellies full or the ability to not have such a necessity have never felt such pang! The agony of waking up and falling asleep with your thoughts on nothing but how empty your stomach is! It's a torment of the body and of the mind. It can make someone go insane! Their body wastes away in front of them. There is nothing more torturous than starvation! Because it is long, and it is slow, and it is merciless. Your threat does not bother me." With that, she turned back to the ledge, still pondering and still not following quite yet.
