The Forest Beyond the Bricks

This is a 1 vs 1 roleplay between HoodedHuntress and SirenFlame.

In this world similar to our current time lives a little house at the edge of the woods where some say magic lies. Here, a girl (Hooded's character) goes to live with her grandmother who hadn't seen her since she was very young, the grandmother's name, Madame Kathleen (Siren's character). The forest is seperated from this house by a low wall made of bricks and stones rumored to hold powerful magic inside each stone.

The forests beyond the bricks is rumored to hold powerful and mythical creatures as well as creatures of nightmares and supernatural origins. A lot of people that go into those forests never come back out, and so the forests remain off-limits to the public. But can one smart girl (Hooded's character) unlock the secrets why people that venture into the woods never return? Is there darkness inside those trees that not even the sun can distinguish? Filled with suspense, mystery, and a secret room inside Madame Kathleen's house - FIND OUT MORE!

<> Follow all rules stated below as much as those of Not-Rated!
<> Human characters are involved in this roleplay, however most are creatures of the forest
<> Creatures of the woods include anything mythical, supernatural, and made-up by the user
<> Some creatures can shape-shift and can have magic

A yellow taxi drove up the long, slightly overgrown driveway of the Forester Estate that Madame Kahtleen owns. In the back-seat, was the passenger - whose parents just recently died in a fatal car crash that took their lives as well as their vehicle. The taxi driver glanced in the rearview mirror. "Seems like this place hasn't seen care in forever." they stated with a laugh, trying to lighten the mood.

Erin replied back in a blatantly unenthusiastic tone, "Who knows. Maybe she's dead too. Seems like the world just doesn't want me to have any fun." She opened the door and went to the trunk to grab her suitcases, stalling as much as she could. Erin expected to have run away within a week.

"I heard she has a tree swing somewhere around here and she has dogs." the taxi driver said as he pulled up to the giant red Victorian style house with a large fountain in it creating a circle of the road. "Well, here we are. There's no payment needed, young miss." they said.

There in the doorway stood her grandmother who hadn't seen her since she was 2. Beside her, stood two figures with wagging tails. 2 dogs.

(Making some new characters, so next reply might be a bit slow)

"I've been good, come inside, dearie." Madame Kathleen said. "Warwick!" she called and a big tall man stepped out. "Erin, this is Warwick, he's my groundskeeper." she said and then nodded at Warwick who took ahold of Erin's luggage and carried it inside for Erin.

Kathleen led them in and smiled.

Erin gave the driver an unenthusiastic nod, muttering "Well, thanks. We'll see how this goes." As she walked up into the driveway, she looked around her, wondering why everything was so overgrown. As she approached the stairs, she said hesitantly "Hello Madame Kathleen."

Kathleen came closer and then wrapped her arms around Erin. "Erin." she said, breathing in the girl's scent. The 60-year-old woman smelled of old perfume and soap. The dogs came close and began sniffing her.
Erin returned the hug, discreetly hiding the fact that the smell that emanated from the woman was rather odd to say the least. She smiled as the dogs ran up to her, finding some promise in that there were two dogs there. When she pulled away from the hug, she asked awkwardly "So how have you been?"

(ok sounds good)
Erin waved to Warwick, before averting her gaze to the old house. No signs of modern architecture were to be found whatsoever. Great. She was stuck in a museum. Already she was planning to run away. A groundskeeper who let everything get overgrown...what was that?

When she looked around she would see a speck of white amongst the trees but it vanished so quickly that she would probably think she imagined something. She would be snapped back into focus when a truck showed up a bunch of men came out, a lawnmower on the back. It seemed the groundskeeping crew had arrived and began working immediately.

The red merle border collie, a pretty fog, barked once. Their name was Klopa. Nobody knew how the two dogs got their names, but she was a very pretty dog. (looks like the dog below)

Erin squinted her eyes at that blur of white in the forest, before turning her eyes towards the dog who had parked, reaching down to pet it gently with a smile, which was real for once.

Madame Kathleen waited for her grand-daughter to follow.

Elak, another dog she had, was a border collie. The dog had found a stick and brought it up to Erin, wagging his tail, hoping for a game of catch.

The flash of white appeared again in the forest, but this time she would barely see it.

Elak stopped and growled towards the trees as the white blur showed itself again, darting between the shades of trees. It appeared to be something flying - but it didn't look like a bird. For birds flying would make noise, there was no noise coming from the forests besides the chirping of birds and crickets.

"Come, Erin." Kathleen said with demand.

Madame Kathleen led her to a room in the house for Erin to sleep in complete with a bed, a bathroom, a closet, a dresser, and many other furniture including a bookshelf, a reclining chair, a desk for school work, and even a small trampoline inside in case Erin got bored. "I could cook dinner soon, dearie, tell me what you want to eat and I'll make it for you." she said softly.

Erin looked around the room, it was quite furnished, and actually appeared rather nice. A smile grew at her lips at the sight of the trampoline, before she responded "Thank you so much for this room. And sorry about my attitude...it's just that mom and dad...." he voice trailed off, as she knew she would cry if she continued speaking. She asked somberly "Could you make tacos? Those are good."
